GENERAL INFORMATION

The Port “Salvador Allende” is located on the shores of lake Xolotlán, in the city of Managua, where once the very center of the capital city was located.  Only few places come close to the natural beauty offered by Managua, and thousands of visitors have been enchanted by the magic and beautiful scenery of Lake Xolotlán.

The Port “Salvador Allende” nowadays has become a beautiful and modern Tourist Center that offers to its visitors comfort, kindness, culture and lots of nature.  These conditions help to make sure that the trips it offers on the lake of Managua are a unique and satisfactory experience.  It is a challenge for lovers of nature and adventure , as the lake holds small islets such as la Isla del Amor (Island of Love)m the Island Momotombito among its main places of interest.

Lake Xolotlán, a big tourist attraction, is the second largest water source of Nicaragua.  It is located to the north of the City of Managua.  Its shape is irregular, and its divided in two parts connected by a narrow strait of 10 km between the peninsula of Chiltepe and Panamí.  It is surrounded by land masses of volcanic origin.  Its main axis extends from Tipitapa to Port Momotombo (65km) and its widest stretch goes from Managua to San Francisco Libre (22km).  Its surface lies at 38.70 meters above sea level and measures 1042 Km2.

Apart from contributing to a better quality of life for the people who live in the surrounding municipalities, this port will generate more tourism activity, offering new alternatives for leisure and recreation.
