The international port of El Bluff, is located on the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua, within the Bay of Bluefields at the mouth of the Río Escondido, at 11 kms of the City of Bluefields and at 382 kms of the capital, Managua. Its geographic coordinates are latitude 12´00' 00” north and longitude 83’41’00” west.
The port has a 160 mts long marginal wharf, of reinforced concrete and is build on pillars, with depths of 5,0 mts. as a result of recent dredging. It also has terminals that can take care of Boats of 1500 TRB that transport diesel.
It has a warehouse of 120 mts by 20 mts. At the national level, the port offers coasting trade services, and conditions for exporting shrimp in refrigerated containers. It also provides the boats with pilots that travel towards and back from the port of El Rama, 100 kilometers upstream from the mouth of the Río Escondido.
The Port of El Bluff is connected with the rest of the country by access routes over water (the port El Bluff is connected with the Río Escondido, which is navigable in all of its 90 kms until the port city of El Rama) land (road to Managua) and air.
The Port of El Bluff owes its international and national importance to its location on the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua, which allows commercial trade at national and international level. This port handles exports of shrimp, lobster, frozen meat and wood in small amounts and derivatives of Petroleum, like Diesel and Gasoline. In addition this port is considered important due to its ethnic historical value, to the culture and the characteristic of being a connection that acts like a bridge for communication with the rest of the Caribbean and the rest of the national territory.

The Port the Bluff is open for ships and cargo 24 hours a day, and for clients wanting to pick up or drop off cargo it has the following schedule:
Monday to Friday: 07:00 - 12:00, 13:00 - 16:30
Saturday: 07:00 - 12:00
