The port of San Jorge was built in 1975, has an area of 250 Ms ², and has an approximate depth of 6 to 8 feet in the berthing area. The port is located on the southwestern coast of the lake of Nicaragua in the Department of Rivas, city with one of the most beautiful lakeshore beaches from all Nicaragua, located at a distance of 115 kilometers of the city of Managua.

 

PORT INSTALLATIONS AND FACILITIES

 

The port has new and modern facilities, such as its passenger terminal with waiting room, tourist information, cafeteria, toilets and  private maintenance.

 

The port has a concrete wharf and the access to the pier was built with Bolsa- Roca, a system patented by a Mexican company.  The pier is approximately 180 mts. long and there is also a 120 mts. long breakwater for the protection of the berthing area agains the waves.  The port terminal has a 450 M² warehouse for the storage of general cargo.
