The shipyard El Diamante is located on the peninsula of El Diamante, at 7 Kms from Granada. It operates under the responsibility of the management of the lake region. The shipyard was built in 1983 and 1984, during the project “Improvement of the Transport on Lake Nicaragua (METRALANI PHASE I)” under the auspice of the Government of HOLLAND.

It is considered to be the Production, Maintenance and Repair unit for the Boats and Yachts that operate on the Lake of Nicaragua.  The shipyard has a dock of 60 meters long; with a metallic roofed structure, with a concrete ramp equipped with rails that serves to lift and to lower the boats to the maneuvering dock.
The shipyard also has a one floor building where the Administrative offices and two workshops for smaller and larger projects are located. It also has a warehouse where all the spare parts and the materials that are used for the repair and maintenance of the ships are stored.

Part of the equipment is a winch with a capacity of 400 tons that hauls and raises the boats, and two low wagons that slide up and down the ramp and are used to put the ships on when they are being repaired.

The shipyard also has a gantry crane with a capacity of 16 tons that can move along the length of the dock(60 mts.).  It ´s got machines, tools and equipment to weld, winch, amilling machine, drills and sand blasting equipment.

The Shipyard currently offers maintenance and repair services both to the fleet of ships of the EPN-R.L. and to the private boats that operate on the lake of Nicaragua.
